Phenomenol. That's what it's like to crack open that new issue of Cooking Light magazine and see Chefs Dana Tough and Brian McCracken's culinary philosophy laid out for more than NINE MILLION food lovers. Described as "standing at the forefront of the food revolution in Seattle" Chef Tough states, "With the scene we have here now, there's no room for mediocre food."

Thank you to writer Jason Sheehan for interviewing Spur (www.spurseattle.com) for the story, "Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Seattle." To read all six pages you'll have to pick up a copy of the November issue. But to read the portion on Spur, click on over to the Spur blog and check it out by clicking on the blog title above.

Chefs Brian McCracken and Dana Tough Awarded the Innovation Award Last Night

The Seattle Weekly brought the chefs on stage last night of the sparkly fun Paramount Theatre, to received the Innovation Award at the Voracious event. After plying 1,000 folks with their foie, the two scooted on stage to much applause. David and Phil from Tavern Law anchored the other side of the vast room, pouring cocktails for crowds of folks. Their spiced drink was so delicious. What a great night!

In addition to the big award, critic Sheehan also cited Spur as having the BEST DISH OF THE NIGHT at this crazy-big event with, we're talking, serious food. He wrote, "But the single best dish of the night? I gotta give it to the boys from Spur who came strong with tiny, beautiful little foie gras torchons, each about the size of a piece of Botan rice candy, set with a little brioche tuille handle and topped with a dab of rhubarb jelly and a shiso leaf which, together, looked like a cherry on top. The foie itself was silky and perfect, the texture like eating a mouthful of butter. And with a dash of rhubarb to cut the fattiness, it was as close to a single, perfect bite as anything I had last night. I was honestly stunned by how good it was."

Congratulations to Spur Gastropub and thank you to the Seattle Weekly.

DETAILS Magazine Includes Tavern Law in JJ Goode's Bed and Breakfast Story

Writer Goode, wrote up a great piece on morning after breakfasts plus "'Day Drinking'-- the best ways to wash down your breakfast--and potentially get an A.M. party started."

He included David Nelson's "Antoinette" cocktail plus the recipe which is:

Combine 3/4 oz each of St-Germain elderflower liqueur, Strega, and freshly squeezed lemon juice in a shaker filled with ice. Shake with conviction, strain into a Champagne flute, and add enough Champagne to fill. Garnish with a lemon twist. (206.322.9734; tavernlaw.com)"

Thank you DETAILS and cheers, with conviction!

Seattle Times food writer forewarns readers about Tavern Law's buzz

Don't you love when an article starts with a line like, "With all the early press -- both locally and nationally..." We do!

Here's the scoop from Nancy Leson on our client's opening weekend (but don't let her keep you away, it's going to be fun to see everyone these opening weeks):

Tavern Law open. Don't expect a Spur-of-the-moment seat

With all the early press -- both locally and nationally, my guess is there won't be a lot of room to move at Tavern Law when the Capitol Hill restaurant and speakeasy-styled drinks-joint makes its public debut at 12th and Madison tonight. Doors open at 5 p.m. and listen up: it's 21-and-over.
Considering the talent at hand (chefs Brian McCracken, Dana Tough and their barman David Nelson -- who brought us Belltown's Spur gastropub), and the foot traffic alone on this Pike/Pine corridor (they're ensconced in the Trace Lofts complex), chances are you might just have to poke your nose in and head elsewhere. Not that you'd have far to go given the implosion of worthy places to eat and drink within a few short blocks.
